so you're posting that you sold your w123 and now you want to sell your w126 all just to come to LA? dude, trust me, you're better off staying down under and keeping your benzes. there's nothing that cool or interesting in LA that warrants selling your benzes just to buy a plane ticket, lol

course when i fly to australia it's usually for free from hickam to RAAF Base Richmond. no need for me to sell any benzes, haha

That leg shouldn't be too bad, I was referring to the the LAX to Oz leg.
A friend flew to the Philippines a couple of times from there, I think he slept most of the way.

You bastard! I am jealous!

I wonder if you could bring something small from OZ my way, say a transmission?

Yeah, right hand drive there, he'd have to switch the steering wheel, way too expensive.
The electricity is different also, so he doesn't have to ship his power tools, saving money!

Dan, Iam happy for you, one of your Dreams is coming true. Shame you have to sell off some of your things, it all can be replaced with new and better stuff.

There are new adventures coming your way, and what better way to enjoy them is with your best friend, your Wife.

I was in Sydney and Brisbane back in June/July 1964 with the U.S. Navy when I was on a Destroyer.
A little shortcut from Yokouska, Japan to San Diego, Ca. The Sydney Opera house was just in the begining stages of being erected.

There is a picture of our ship with the arched bridge and the opera House in the back ground.

You know there is a ritual you will have to go through when crossing the line. you will have to meet King Neptune and his Royal Court.
This is the initiation of becoming a Shell Back from being a Pollywog.

we`ll be looking to hear about your forth coming adventures.

Charlie

Thank so much Charlie!
Yes it will be definitely a big change.I think I might buy myself a straw hat and a smoking pipe with my favorite rocking chair and just sit back and relax and enjoy the rest of my life with our youngest daughter and my best friend (my wife).
On the other hand I need to fix a few oil leaks my old Unimog has.Its been parked in the barn for several years and now it needs some TLC!!
It still starts on the first turn of the key but I need it to last a few more years, and complete the fence rebuilding around the acreage on the farm.
So yes life is good and now I can say its been a full circle.
Cheers Charlie and everyone else!
I will of course keep in touch with you all from down under very soon.

Which ship Charlie? Mine was Waddell DDG-24 '77-'81 - I have some pretty raucous photos from my shellback initiation... God forbid any of those get on the Internet
