Just brought home #10

Here's the newest one, an 84 W123. I bought it for the engine, but am now thinking of selling the whole thing. Here's what I know. Starts and runs fine. Is slow (pedal not bottoming IP), but trans shifts through the gears fine. Has a vac leak, as the locks don't work, and brakes are sort of hard. Slow to shut off too. Sunroof is inop, and by looking at it, someone tried to take a look without knowing what they were doing. Has the good coolant in it. Current inspection, so it's good there. Enjoy the pics, and I'll post more details as they come.
Needs door check, hood release cable, pass hood hinge so far. I think it'll look good wearing polished bundts.

That's an understatement. Like the blocks of wood up there!

Otherwise, another nice diamond in the rough for ya.

Nope, tex. The part that sucks is I got rid of my parts car about three months ago with a perfect headliner and sunroof stuff. Grrrrrr

I'm thinking of trying to buff out the Lapis blue paint. I dont' want to fix the door and fender, and have nice shiny panels with a dull rest of the car. 318k on a working odometer. Just a little more detective work discovered a non working power mirror, and both back windows are inop. Maybe tomorrow I'll have the opportunity to go through the whole car.
Oh yeah, time to update the sig again.

Weld, bondo, and paint over the sunroof, and a new headliner of course.

Looks like a decent W123 that could be made nice again with a little TLC. Don't part it out! Save it!

i'd agree with that if there's no hidden rust. it could use new paint and some trim, the palomino on the seats is a bit faded to 'colorado beige' on the bolsters, needs a new (suede?) headliner, but otherwise nothing too bad unless the engine's shot with bad compression

Almost 5 wooded acres is nice for storage. You can't see all 15 cars here in these pics. Drove it around today, and it's pretty slow. 4 cylinders have ok compression, one is not so good. It doesn't miss like Cali does, but it's low (190). It's got a KKK turbo vice Garrett. Did a valve adjustment (there were only three tight ones) today. Cleaned out the banjo bolt. Am installing a different CCU without missing buttons. The factory Becker has a bad display, but seems to work ok. Needs a transmission fluid and filter change. It's got a replacement radiator, Bosch alternator, brass fuses. Someone definitely took at least a little care of it. Going to change the power steering fluid, replace the dome light bulb tomorrow. Have to order some other parts. Should be able to get $750 for it, I think.

Very cool! Are you just changing the trans fluid and filter as general maintenance, or is the transmission doing something weird that you think a fluid and filter change would help? Same for the p/s fluid. Any way you could explain your power steering fluid and filter change to us? I want to change mine very soon.

Trans is working fine, just the fluid is darker than I would like. Plus, I want to put in synthetic. (yes even for a car I'm selling). P/S fluid is dark (I think it gets like that quickly). Changing the fluid is easy. Turkey baste out the old. Remove filter. Take off return line, and place the end in container for fluid disposal. Refill with new fluid. Have someone start the car, and turn the wheel lock to lock, while you're filling the reservoir. After it comes out of the return line clean, stop the engine. Install new filter, re attach return line, fill reservoir and start engine. Turn lock to lock, make sure your fluid level is fine, check for leaks, and you're done. That's how I do it.

Got it in the garage today, and found out why it was so cheap. Front end needs a rebuild. Lower Ball Joints, LCA bushings, upper control arms, Guide rod mounts are the first things I saw. Nothing like an opportunity to buy tools!!!! I knew I'd get a spring compressor someday.

Car is for sale. Adjusted the ALDA, and the car is no longer deathly slow. Has 320k miles now.
