Alternator 1982 300td
anybody know how to remove the adjustment bolt on the alternator. i am having trouble removing the 13mm elongated nut. i try to back it off and it gets tight. any thoughts?
p.s. this is an 82 300td, 5cy 123 chasis

Welcome to the Forum
 Here is a thread that came up this week on the very subject. www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=260389 I have a couple pictures in post #9. First picture it the top side, and the second pic is from the bottom. 1 - On the left side of the alternator you will see a 17mm nut. loosen it. 2 - Behind it will be a 17mm bolt, loosen it. 3 - under the alternator is a 17mm bolt, loosen it. 4 - then turn the adjuster nut on the right side. once tightened, then tighten the other three nuts/bolts. |
Simply loosen the bolts that go through the alternator in the fore/aft direction and the adjuster will then back off easily.
