Higher Temp Thermostat

Does anyone know where to get a higher temp thermostat for a 78 300d? My car generally runs just under 175 unless worked hard on a hot day and I'd like to get some higher and quicker heat for my wvo system.

Or does anyone have a part number? Whenever I search for this vehicle I get the standard 80C thermostat. I'm thinking 87C.

Higher, maybe. Quicker? Don't think so.

AFAIK, you won't find anything hotter than 80°C. This thermostat begins to open at 80°C. and is not fully open until 92°C. The variation in different vehicle is usually caused by gauge discrepancies.

Verify your cylinder head temperatures with an infrared probe. You may be surprised.

i added a coolant temp gauge right after the coolant exits the engine and it stays around 165. i don't know if that's an indicator. i just thought this might be a good idea for winter. any problems created by running it that hot, so long as it doesn't keep going up and overheating?

If true, I would replace the thermostat.
