well after selling my 300SDL a few months back, and attempting a new chapter with my C43 (that i also sold) i was stuck with my 190E 2.6 which now belongs to my wife, i finally found another great Diesel!!
Or did I?
low miles 153k
you could literally eat off the engine, it has the #14 head AND the crimp on vacuum pump.
has not been driven since 2002. was on a non op title, started right up ran and drove excellent, rear slightly bouncy due to defective accumulators.
the car was dissasembled internally for a detail by a crackpot tech who lost the door panels and all the wood before he dissapeared. except for a few minor paint chips the car is as new, i have a 2" stack of invoices for all the parts the previous owner did befor his tech vanished.

so after going through everything i am feeling like i have my work cut out for me, first and foremost i need to find grey doorpanels.

great to be back with a Diesel again, now if i can only get it put back togeather!!

So the interior is all back together, except for all four door panels and the wood?

If you cannot find door panels in the color you need, try getting panels in some other color and painting them. I have had good luck with SEM spray paint, at least in the "Shadow Blue" color that my two older diesels use. I don't know if SEM has a gray that will match your interior but it's worth a try. I have done two dashes and several small bits and am impressed with the color match and how well the paint sticks to the vinyl.

I agree with Jeremy, the SEM stuff is pretty nice. I re-did my front seats in Palomino..it looked a bit too yellow at first, but once back in the car, it matched up well. So far so good...I have a little bit of wear on the driver seat from getting in and out, but that is probably my own fault for not putting on enough coats.

Lost all 4 door panels? I believe it was the pick your part in chula vista that had a gasser w124 wagon with grey interior one or two months ago. Might still be there. Might still have its door panels. If it wasn't the PYP it was Ecology's lot.

When searching for the panels, keep in mind that you will need the rear door panels from a wagon. The front ones should be interchangeable. You might as well search for some from a late model 124 wagon. I can't remember what year the change occurred, but someone here will know.

'90-up will have speakers in the front doors as well as the rear (all years T124 have speakers in the rear). Also, '90-up will have the leather inset in the panels if a leather interior, and '90-up has the zebrano or burlwood inserts in the door panels.

If you find late door panels, the front ones with the speaker grille will fit fine without modification. Adding the factory speaker boxes is another story however, it takes a little metal cutting.

Sounds like a pretty good find.

But like they say, this thread is worthless without pics!

mostly, spoke with the owner and he found the center console wood, so that is good, i need to reasemble and install the passenger seat and the rear seat, install the carpet beind the rear seats on the side and both panels under the dash, window switch area is also apart, i will post some pictures in a day or so.

i can tell by your sig that you're a wise man. you were smart to sell the SDL, but keep the c43--it's a keeper! also, you've now got a 2.3 and a 2.6 190e. these are great cars, and you know it, otherwise you wouldn't own two. why not make it a collection and get yourself a nice 2.3-16v once you sell the c43? trust me you will fall in love with this car

If this car was in a flood, and the water above the bottom of the doors, the carpets could be dried and salvaged, but the door cards might be destroyed. I really can't see any reason to remove the seats, center console, carpets, and door cards.

C43 has already been sold, fortunately was a forum member or else i would be more upset with the amount i lost!!

both my 190's were 2.6, i gave my wifes to my best friend, and gave mine to my wife, the 2.3 16v was never really something i had to have or else i would have had one by now, have driven many that were customers cars, just not that impressed enough to get one.

thanks for the info, i usually try to keep things as original as possible., so i will find the woodless and speakerless panels. (hopefully)
