300D Not starting

I drove a few time with the new strater bypass. I'm off the road again, now. 1984 300D - This car aint startin. The starter button works well. I thought changing fuel filter/screen site glass would do the trick. It must be something else. Maybe the little bushings that go on my tranny shift lever might Help. The battery is being trickle charged cause I cranked the life out of it.
Any suggestion? Where is the neutral safty switch located? Is that the wire that was smoking? Right back corner of transmission?
Hey my horn fuse was blown. replacing it didnt fix the problem. What should I check for?

Need year of car. Problem is likely glow plugs. Go to dieselgiant.com and follow his glow plug diagnostic procedures.

I don't see how the Neutral Safety Switch could be the cause of the problem since he says the engine is cranking.

Drop us some more info (ie year). If it's a w123, it's either a fuel problem, or glow plugs. Not much else. Please chime in with year of car.

123 84' 300D. I replaced the diesel filter and the screen fltr. Fuel is redy to go. (No bubbles) Filled fuel filter w/ power steering fluid. Gonna check ground straps. Neutral safty switch, where ever that is? Glow plug light is only on for 5 seconds. Before cleaning battery terminals it was never on. Plugs arent old.

No need to bother with the ground strap or Nss if the engine is turning over. You have a glow plug problem.

I bypassed the starter and have push button mounted to the kickplate inside the car.

You might be right. I'll check out dieselgiant. If the relay is bad, is there a way to bypass it? My friend said Pepboys has a relay that would work.

I caught that. If the engine is turning over, neither a bad NSS or a bad ground strap will cause a no start condition.

You could temporarily hot wire the plugs directly by putting 5 pieces of copper wire into the plug harness after unplugging it at the rrelay and then twisting all 5 pieces together and jumping it to the battery.
You could also have bad plugs.

Crack the injector lines to make sure fuel is getting to the injectors, but it sounds like a glowplug problem. How's compression?

Kerry, I'll try that thanks.
JEB I dont have any tech tools to check compresson. One thing that happend on the boat was my wife pulled the shut off knob and forgot to push it back in again. On my car every time I shut off I pull a stiff bailing wire tied to the stop lever. That seems to not be the problem tho.
