Need Help With A Part Number-'87 300SDL

Will this fan clutch (603 200 0022) work in my '87 300 SDL? Just curious. If so, great! If not, then please let me know before I buy the wrong thing.

Kevin

There have been earlier recommendations to use the 606 clutch and fan. On 8/20/07 HIT MAN X stated part number for clutch was 606 200 01 22A. Understand it costs less and uses upgraded fan.

The EPC shows fan drive 603 200 04 22 has been replaced by 606 200 00 22. Plastic fan is 606 200 00 23. Need a reverse look up of your part number, do not know if it is possible.

regarding the upgrade to a 606 clutch...

This fan is supposed to work on a 606 up to '97. From what I have read on here, everyone seems to be getting the fan clutch for a '98 or '99 606 engine. Is there a specific reason for the '98/'99 fan clutch?

Fans and clutches are generally interchangeable within the US 603 and 606. Probably worth the gamble in a 126 since earlier and later fans fit without interference. The 98-99 11 blade plastic fan is an iffy fit in the 124 but fits without problems in a 126. You should be fine with the eBay fan. Just make sure the bolts you use aren't so long that the go into the clutch fins.

?

Which bolts are we talking about? The bolts that hold the clutch in the fan I assume? Three of those, correct? One main bolt holding the fan to the water pump pulley? At some point my present fan was put in to replace the old metal fan. In other words, I already have a plastic fan.

Kevin

P.S. Thanks so much for the help!

Yes, the bolts that hold the fan to the clutch.

I didn't think of the bolt that holds the clutch to the flange. Folks seem to use the one that came with the car on any clutch.

Smile Fan Clutch and Fan Blade 1986 300SDL

I just replaced my fan clutch and fan blade with the 606 fan clutch and the 11-blade plastic fan blade. I will fit and is an easy replacement with no clearance problems. Do replace the fan blade with the 11-blade fan as it seems to made a difference in my daily driver.

Be sure your radiator is up to specs. and you will be very happy that you did the change. Do not be afraid as it is really an easy job and do replace the (3) fan bolts.Support the form and order the parts from fast lane.

Bought It, Got It, Installed It!

Took all of 30 minutes to remove old fan clutch and install new one. Perfect fit!
