W126 SLS and w123 SLS

So i have a w123 with sls that is a euro sedan......one type of sls shock.
Then i have a w123T wagon with a different type yet the ones on the euro w123 sedan are just like the ones in the american 1991 w126 560sel.

******** has them both saying the same thing.

E.P.C.

The rear suspension is virtually identical on the sedans and wagons (W123). I'd be very surprised if the struts were actually different.

Startekinfo. Subscribe to the EPC and check to see if different part numbers are specified.

Jay.

Whoops.

Made a mistake on that one, sorry. The upper mounting point will be different, sedan vs. wagon.

Not obvious from the photo, but if you look closely you can see the difference.

Regardless, sign up for the EPC. The diagrams are excellent.

Jay.

Rear suspension on a wagon is completely differently than nearly all sedans. As the original poster stated the wagons has a self leveling system while the sedans don't. Only a few sedans every came with rear SLS.

As for the OP question. I've only seen one sedan with SLS and I didn't pay attention to the struts. But my would guess is that someone else put in the wrong strut, and that you should use the type that is in the 123 wagons. But a check on the EPC with the VIN number would tell you.

sedans for sure have a different type i have the FSm and it shows them but doesnt says why or if one is stronger. my guess was confirmed on another forum by 2 other people that its just the extra weight the wagon has.......thanx guys.
