oil pressure line fitting leak

Hello,

Does anyone's oil pressure gauge line fitting leak at the oil filter housing? Mine does. The housing is clean, but it seeps and drips down. Don't want to make it too tight for fear of damage. has anyone fixed theirs? Can a new fitting be "swaged" on?

Thanks!

I am not sure which one of your Mercedes you are speaking of.
On mine I have a Mechanical gauge and the part that screws into the Oil filter has a male coneshaped end that fits into the female portion.
So it seals metal to metal the much the same as your Fuel Injection Hard Lines seal where they attach to the Injectors.
It could be that the Plastic Tubing has cracked or that there is some problem with the sealing area.
If it is the Tubing; That can be replaced.
If it is the Female Part that is leaking; That can be replaced also as it is a separate plate that attaches to the Oil Filter Housing.
I fact you might want to make sure that it is not the Gasket that goes under that Plate that is bad or maybe the Plate needs to be tightened.

Your lucky

Just be glad its not leaking inside the cabin. Can honestly say my 84 300tdt was the only vehicle I have owned to have an oil leak inside the cabin of the car, what a mess. Good luck with the leak, and I hope it stays in the engine compartment for you.

If mine ever starts leaking my Wife is going to get a surprise as I never put the Kick Panel back on. She is the one that drives it 98% of the time.
