Keyless entry

So my door locks have once again frozen and don't want to budge. I had lubricated it with graphite dust a couple of days ago and my de icer is just useless (heck it probably sludged up the graphite now too ).

So I feel like I am going to take the plunge and install a keyless entry module on my 300D.

I've been searching around and everyone seems to have these mystical 30$ keyless entry devices. The only devices I've seen for keyless w123 entry are 150$+. What's up with that?

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated! Forum searches have been kinda useless.

I bought both of mine on Ebay. I'll look for the link.

Here's the link:

You only need to use the master actuator for the driver door as long as your central vacuum locks are working. It only operates the locks but it has a socket on the module to add an alarm or headlight confirmation feature.

I ended up with a crimestoppers one from amazon. setup was pretty simple and straight forward. Chad has a post on his install, I think.

It's best to get your vacuum system in order, if it's not already, so you can just actuate the drivers lock to control all locks

You don't need to buy one specifically for the 300D. Just buy any generic door entry/alarm/what ever you want to add. Then put an actuator in the driver door (search, there are some good posts with pics on here. I know for sure there is one with pics showing it on an SD as I copied it). Then run the wires for the actuator to the electronic control box.

That is what I did in my W123. Kit was about $30. One actuator in the driver's door (hardest part is probably removing the door panel), fish the wires through the rubber accordion, install the receiver under the driver's side under-dash panel. If your vacuum system is in good shape, unlocking the driver's door will unlock all the others.

AWESOME! Thank you so much Chad. I was having the worst luck finding anything. I just bought it.

My door locks all work perfectly. I'm just tired to having to wedge my key in to unlock the car.

Here's the thread I did when I installed it on my CD. http://www.peachparts.com//shopforum/showthread.php?t=241169
It's a bit different on the TD and D. It might be a little easier IIRC.

At any rate, if you find yourself in my area with the unit, I'll help you install it.

I ran the power wire to #2 (clock) in the fuse box and grounded it under the dash. The hardest part of the whole job is running the wires through the rubber accordian at the door jamb.

EDIT: I just re-read my thread and it's harder to do the D and TD due to the bending of the push rod. It's not too bad though. If I help you do yours, we can just take off my door panel and match the bends I already figured out for mine.

Man I wish "home" was North Wales because I would definitely stop by. Either way this will be my winter project. I just need to get a hold of my indy for the new CV axles.

Has anyone had any experience with this kit:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCEDES-BENZ-W126-KEYLESS-ENTRY-260SE-280-S-SE-SEL_W0QQitemZ260480788891QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item3ca5dd699b

It is much pricier, but the key fobs are kinda cool. It is also made to go in the trunk.

I bought mine from this place

http://www.bulldogsecurity.com/

On their site there is a link to the actural place that you order from. They seem to have everything from the basic door opener to full alarm systems.
