Block heater thread increaser/reducer

I went to install my new block heater today in my '76 300D and I found out the new block heater threads are a different type and size. How can I get my hands on the thread adapter like the one pictured in this link?

Not getting much help from the local guys

Thanks,

Dave

I don't have anything in my hand or in front of me, but looking through the 615/6/7 FSM it makes mention of the coolant preheater core hole on the right side of the block and that the screw plug in it is M38 X 1.5!

So you could check and be certain that the coolant heater's base you have is not that size and figure out what you need from those two dimensions. I'd suspect that the dealership might be the only place you'll be likely to get that reducer ring seperately, but you never know, good luck!

If that does not work then check at specialty bolt and nut houses...
perhaps you can get something with those outside specs..
and drill and tap for the size you need it to be in the center...
Probably costly in that size drill and tap... but you may live in a cold place...
you can put your location in the upper right part of each post and it helps people answer....or sometimes give you a heads up on bargains and stuff...or in person help sometimes if they are close enough when you need help...
