1995 W124 OM606 oil sender/sensor leak?
I completed an oil change the other day. I had been watching the drain plug and it appeared to be leaking, so I got a new washer and drain plug from the dealership.
I purchased a new drain pan to save my brand new synthetic oil so I could just dump it back in. I might need it again. First, my drain plug/washer was leaking, but so is this thing above it. What is that, a low oil level sensor? Here is a better pic from earlier; I pulled the connector off and some kind of plastic pieces rained down on me. I don't know if it was part of the connector. The connector has a round portion that goes over the sensor, but I don't know if there was is something else around that, or it that hollow round part was longer. Anybody ever snapped a pic of that connector? Does this leak around the sensor, or around the housing it appears to be installed in? Either way, I'm guessing the oil is gonna have to be drained a second time to replace whatever is necessary. Rats! The new plug and washer sealed nicely this time.

Yeah, the sensor's are prone to Leak...
Through the o-ring seals and other internal parts.
There have been a couple of posts and DIYs. 'Me I cannot remember if the things are "Repairable". From our friend "Search": http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/search.php?searchid=4713907 The RU site shows a sealing o-ring between the Oil Pan and the sensor(#422) and some kind of what looks like an internal ring of some kind(#419)...BUT no parts #s. Try the Free NAMB EPC ?

"Our friend search" I found the correct picture with parts list on the EPC earlier this evening and printed it out, but I'm trying to figure out if it can leak through the sensor assy around the electrical plug area. I did see an orange o-ring on the sensor when I unplugged the connector, but thought that might be to keep debris out. I would love to see a pic of the inner part of the connector if anybody wants to climb under their car. I'm worried about where the plastic pieces broke off from and if that part of the connector will add to my leak. I guess I will get that o-ring that seals sensor to oil pan and of course another copper washer for my very dry drain plug. Whatever happens it sounds like my new oil is going to be dumped a second time. Good grief........

Jimmy, I have a new sensor that I purchased accidentally when I thought mine was bad. If you determine that you need another, I'll make you a deal on it... Say, 75% of retail?

At least it is easy to R&R to reseal unlike the one on my 560. That required me to drop the lower oil pan.
Few dollars in orings and off you go.

Usually the leak is at the outer o-ring seal, which is separably replaceable for a couple bucks but it is possible for the float switch to leak internally and that is not repairable. New float switches are ~$50 depending on source.
