Getting a Used E300D to ride like new

I purchased a used 1997 E300D and thanks to this forum changed out the glow plugs without a hitch. I love this car and would like to bring it back to new car standards in steps. How would one get this tight feeling that a new car has? You know that solid feeling when going over pot holes and turning into corners etc? Any suggestions?

Replace every single rubber bit in the front and rear suspension.

Download the free EPC from Mercedes. You can identify all the parts from that.

How many miles on yours?

New shocks, sway bar bushings and sway bar links are generally the biggest bang for your buck. Lower control arm bushings, ball joints and tie rod ends up the ante.

MY car has 185,000 miles on it> Any idea how to rid my car of the P0200 code which will not go away since I changed out the Glow Plugs and cleaned the intake manifold?

You should start a new thread for this question, since it is a new topic. Also use the search function. This may have been covered before.

Check the vacuum lines to your EGR valve for leaks. If those are good, swap the tranducers that control your flaps and see if the code moves. Both transducers are identical.

+1

I put new shocks and sway bar links in last summer... wow what a difference. Lower ball joints & inner/outer tie rod ends are easy and cheap, might as well do them all at once and then get an alignment.

There are two identical tranducers controling the EGR/Flaps. Swap them. If one is bad the fault code will change referencing the new device (in this case, flaps) that isn't performing.

Want that new car ride?

You will have to do it all. Replace every link, joint, spring, shock and bushing. If it moves or changes length or twists in rubber it will have to be replaced, including the tires. Then you might get close.
