1984 300SD Trans slipping from 2nd to 3rd

My 1984 300SD is a California car, it has the black vacuum module on the side for fine tuning the softness of the shift.
My trans is slipping (flaring?) from second to third gear, fluid and filter are new........ when I changed the oil and filter, the oil looked great and the pan was spotless,...... It shifts so smooth except second to third, Any ideas?
Thank You ahead of time!!!
Jim

PS
I was very careful not to leave any lint in the pan, I used a paper towel and brake clean.

I had the same symptoms. Changed the k-1 spring, which is easy to do. Problem solved. Drop the transmission pan, remove the filter. Remove the small plate on the valve body on the left facing back. Remove the old k-1, put in the new one and all will be well. It cost about 20.00 for the spring. Dont put it off since you are burning the bands by slipping.

The K-1 accumulator is on the front left side of the lower valve body.
