Hi,

I live in Europe and have an European 1992 190D 2.5 turbo with 5sp manual.

My differential has a horrible whine. Does anyone know the numbers of the differential I have so I can start looking for one in the junkyards (over here no one builds diffs).

1992 Mercedes 190D 2.5 turbo 5sp manual. EGT+boost gauges. Boost controller set to ~14.5 psi. 1 1/4 turns on full load adjustment. LPG injection. Next in the list is water injection.

The ratio should be stamped on the milled portion of the casting where the rear cover bolts on. Look for an area about two to four inches long and half inch wide where there is room to stamp numbers with the rear cover bolted in place. It will probably need wiped off before the numbers can be read.
