I bought a rust free 1982 300D and it has some issues that need attention.

#1 Leaking old style primer pump.

When I start the car when cold, the car immediatly starts but smokes a little and has slight missing/hesitation. After the car warms up it smooths out.

Question: Is the leaking primer pump likely the culprit causing the missing/hesitation and start-up smoke?

I have ordered a new style primer pump.

I also plan on replacing/check glow plugs.

I also plan on doing a diesel purge at some point.
