300 TD hatch lock too loud?
Hey all TD experts out there - I have an 82 300 TD and when I lock car using central lock, hatch is last to go and is a loud "clunk". Fearing corrosion causing problems in the linkage, I removed rear panel and looked at everything. Seemed okay - well greased, just required decent effort to make lock and unlock. Just in case, sprayed with white grease. Maybe the system is meant to lock that way. Any pointers?

Mine's loud too. No worries. The diaphragm in the hatch went bad a few months ago. I've replaced it and the new one's as loud as the original. BTW - the new diaphragm looks almost exactly the same as the original. The only difference is in where it was manufactured. The new one's made in Germany, while the original was manufactured on the west side of the wall.
