crinkling sound?

Ok, so 83 300sd. When I'm on the highway and I just barely press the accelerator I get this weird crinkling sound from the center console (tranny). I add the tiniest amount of pressure on the pedal and it goes away. I let off of to that first friction point where fuel is just barely applied and the crinkling sound returns. Let off the tiniest bit more and it goes away again. Its really hard to maintain the sound. Some days it does it and some days it doesn't.

Whatchallthink?
