Down Pipe Installed!!

So, turbobenz and I adjusted my valves last night, before we did that we installed my down pipe I built last Sunday. I built it from memory and some measurements I took. I did not expect it to fit. I thought there would need to be some fitting once I got it under the car, but nope she fit just right the first time!

Maybe finishing the exhaust tonight.

Yes! we ran it with out the pipe, and with it..
it was louder with the pipe on! aside from being way to loud to drive, it sounded pretty good, especially after the valve adjustment... its been a while

The pipe is 2.5" just behind the turbo, and goes up to 3" once it goes under the car.

here is the where I went from 2.5" to 3". I used a ball peen hammer to make it look like a star, made the welds you see in the picture , and then hammered the points of the star flat after the welds were made. normally I'd just a intermediate pipe to step up that distance, but this worked really well!

nope, but I can ask around for a camera. turbobenz has his SD with stock exhaust.. nearly stock, no kidneys... so I could make a good video to compare... if i had a camera.

some notes if you are going to do this yourself. I got the 2.5 inch pipe from a newer Chevy truck. its the stock exhaust that goes over the rear axle. the bends worked perfect as you can see. got it from the pick and pull for $13. I got the flex joints from ebay, $20 for the small one and $30 for the big one I think you only need the small one, but i ordered the big on first so I chose to use it as well. the rest of the pipe is 3" i got from pick an pull years back I found it on a diesel chevy and a cummins truck. no engines in the trucks but the pipes were still there. I paid $30 for that pipe. and i bought a 3" to 3.5" by 18" tip from Summit Racing for $40.

So I've got about 120 in it at this point. not counting the welding supplies.

Dont forget to tell them we ordered a straight through glass pack for it!

If its not too loud Ill ill be deleting my stock muffler and installing one also. I may end up installing two of them if its too loud with just one. Thatd be a ridiculously low exhaust note!
