Where's the Ground Hog?

Every Spring and early Summer, this forum is covered with a/c problems. It's like Ground Hog Month.

I guess everyone is now a competent a/c repairmen, so the need for such posts is no more.

Funny you should bring this up, Mr. Bible

A buddy who is friends with a mechanic's helper told my friend about this new super-coolant called Freeze 12.

Have y'all heard of it?

Me, I'm running a 45/35/20 blend of propane/butane/acetylene.

What a blast of cold air that is!!

(edit for the sarcastically challenged: no, I'm not)

Really? We had the warmest combined March and April ever in the books. I think it was only the 2nd March ever where there was no snowfall. Not that this is AC weather for most, but I've used it occasionally (anything above 70F for me is hot) . It has cooled back down a bit to average temps now.

I actually just dump bags of ice down into the evaporator core. That has been working very well for me!

It's kind of like when an oil thread appears and I make the sarcastic comment about using waste veggie oil or water as engine oil.

If someone actually did that I don't know what I would do. Probably keel over with laughter... and sympathy

Seems like we get this "Groudhog Day" question every spring.
The forum needs to cooperate! How can we discuss the issues with "junk refrigerants" without AC threads.....

Edit: This is my favorite A/C thread. http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=257448

If anyone ever brings up how r12 isn't bad for the environment i'm bringing that post back

No groundhog here. But my 1yo reman compressor blew last week.

It goes to the mechanic tonight to install a new Behr unit, new lines (the two that attach to the compressor) and the other replaceable items. New R12 and oil.

Napa is refunding 100% of the reman compressor. But I get nothing for the dryer, expansion valve or the $$$ for the R12 lost.

In Texas, we don't F around with A/C. And never again will I ever buy a reman compressor if I don't have to.

for my next compressor I will buy a new one, but I am entering I think my 5th summer with a Reman compressor from Fastlane, our fine forum sponser!
Oh, and that is with an evil blend!! (Freeze12)
I have to add about 1/3 to 1/2 can every spring. The evilness of the blend hasn't seemed to have hurt.
I'm just sayin'.....

Fastlane no longer shows a compressor available. APE does have the Behr, but it's more expensive here than at 'the place in AZ' that I just got mine from. Quite a large price difference too.
