vibration issue - at idle W140 300SD
The weather has been getting warmer, albeit today was rather cool.
I have noticed when the car is warm that there is a vibration (at idle) that intensifies as the car gets warmer and the longer it's driven. The vibration doesn't show up when it's first started and probably isn't apparent even within the first 10 minutes or so, but on my way home at night when it's above 70F outside I notice at every stoplight I hit the vibration gets worse. After I get moving again nothing feels wrong, but when I get caught at a light I get this nasty vibration. I'm wondering if this is a sign of trans pump or torque converter failure? Any clues? Anyone? Thanks for any advice Steve A

Start with the simple things.. how are the motor mounts? Idle speed is lowered when the engine gets up to temp, and lower engine speeds make more vibration.

motor mounts are where I would look.
also possible are the transmission mount, but it's not as noticeable only from idle... |

The problem doesn't appear during cold weather regardless of engine temperature...which is odd I know but still that's what's going on. Thanks for the advice guys, I'll look at the motor mounts again but I just don't get the impression there's a problem. Steve A

how did you check the mounts? the bell shaped mounts really need to be removed to check them out well. it's only two bolts, (although they are REALLY tight bolts!) I'd check the driver's side first.
