Murphy's Law & a word of thanks...Fuel filters!

Thanks to the contributors to this forum I heeded the advice to take extra fuel filters on any road trip...or anywhere for that matter. Traveling down the NY Thruway just west of Syracuse the car starved of diesel and quit. No warning...just quit. (Murphys law?) I was in a construction zone without a shoulder but (serindipity) I literally coasted to an emergency pull off.

The State Troopers that pulled up shortly thereafter were happy I could make the repair -- think it was shift change. I wouldn't have had thought to bring the filters had I not spent time reading all of your posts! Thanks again.

+a screwdriver and rubber gloves.
Yep. The preparation is the difference between a minor inconvenience and a huge ordeal.
Ive thrown them on for stuck merc owners on the side of the road and had them rolling in less than 5 minutes when they thought they were royally toast with some major engine problem.
I tell them to pay me back by carrying two for themselves and doing the same for a merc owner they see stuck someday.

Always carry two I say. One to get you going, and the second because you know that there's a good possibility that you have a problem brewing in your fuel and might need the second.

I found this out about 15years ago in Wisconsin with my motorhome, and 300gallons of algae-tainted fuel. Happy to have two filters.
