It's A Crying Shame!

I'm a buyer at a scrap metal recycling yard in SC, which has it's benefits. Someone drove my 300D in here one day and sold it as scrap metal. Well I saved it from the shredder and paid 8 cents a pound for it! I'm about to go back to school and it's going to become my primary vehicle.
Yesterday someone brought in an 85 300D and I'm afraid it's fate is not as fortunate. I'll shed a tear when it gets crushed.

I'll bet you have a great supply of parts though!

Classic Mercedes by the pound. Now there's an idea. I'll bet there is room for a business here if the scrapyard would make the cars available before shredding them.

4,500 lbs. x $.08/lb. = $360

If a car drives in, I'll bet they could double their money by selling it for $.16 per pound = $720.

I'm surprised no one has asked how they can pick this car up like you did with yours. I'm too far away.

Good point. I live in NC and I could drive down to your place when you get a W124 in.

Yea, everyone keeps telling me that. I have a line of friends that have "dibs" on the next ones.

CMC Valley Falls Rd in Spartanburg once ran a pick n pull back when scrap was cheap. When it hit ~ $2 a hundred, they all got crushed.

Before it gets crushed, someone should grab the rear diff and the speedometer...
