Do I Need To Replace The Transmission Filter?

How dirty can a transmission filter get? I have 25k miles on my filter now and am putting together parts for my next transmission fluid change at 30k. Does MB recommend a new filter every 30k?

I found this from a European W124 Petrol manual:

Yes, MB recommends changing the filter at 30,000 mile intervals. The Euro manual that was quoted doesn't say anything about filter changes for some reason, but the Factory Service Manual specifies filter changes every 30,000 miles.

The Euro manual above says:

"Automatic Transmission: Fluid change without filter change every 30 000 km"
