Where to get steel keys cut?

My new W124 came with after market alarm with a built in blank key. Anyone know where I can get this cut at? I am assuming that the stealerships wont.

Any good locksmith should be able to cut an aftermarket key. If it is a real Mercedes key, I know that only one place in my area can duplicate Mercedes keys and they charge as much or more than the dealer. My dealer doesn't actually cut keys anyway, they get duplicates from the factory.

The locksmiths in my area will cut Mercedes keys, but they're brass.

They will not cut a steel key.

I've ordered steel keys from the dealer - $18.

Does your W124 key look like a W123 key or like the double cut W126 key? Doing a quick search it looks like the W124s use different keys then either?

My local VW dealer can cut steel keys. I would assume a good locksmith can too, as long as they're the kind that are cut, not milled. I've not found any non-dealer who can cut keys that are milled. VW wants $90 for one for my 99 Jetta

Master Locksmith

'Mutt,

Give this guy a call...He's one of only seven ML's in the Metro area.

(This kind of Folderol is a piece of cake for them,
It's not even an "Electronic"or encoded key.)

The ML down here can cut and encode ANY kind of key/Lockset.
