Is this the throttle bushing? 240D
The first picture I've attached is to help you locate this piece of my 240D. The second is a detail of what actually broke.
Is this: http://catalog.peachparts.com/ShopByVehicle.epc?q=&yearid=1982@@1982&makeid=63@@MERCEDES+BENZ@@X&modelid=6142%3AED|10000129%3AMBC|1489@@240D&catid=240621@@Fuel+Injection&subcatid=240696@@Throttle+Bushing&applicationid=W0133-1617422&mode=PA what I need to buy and replace? I had almost convinced myself I had correctly identified it as the correct linkage and bushing and what-not but then I got to second-guessing myself. Appreciate the confirmation. |

You have it right. They look a little different before they disintegrate.

I can tell that much, at least. Every 25-50 miles I have to put the thing back in its socket... it'll stay for that long. If I don't, I lose full travel at the IP and the thing won't make it up hills. Order will go in in the next day or two. Fortunately the bushing is staying in place for at least an hour of driving (depending on pedal usage) after I cram it back in the socket, so I'm at least not in constant danger until i get a replacement.

Yup that the throttle bushing. I usually see the rubber part break not where your broke. But none the less you'll need a new one.

This is how I got SWMBO's cherry '82 240D for cheap ~ he thought it was gutless and wouldn't go over 55 MPH , 40 on hills .
I replaced the bushing and it zooms along fully loaded @ 75 MPH with plenty of throttle left now .

And it's an easy job to replace. You'll love the pedal feel once you do.

The parts needed include the plastic attachment parts on the other end of that rod. I just got some for my 82 but I don't have the part numbers handy.
