w210 | horn replacement / upgrade

Hey folks... I need to replace my horns as one of the dual tones does not initially sound with the horn applied, and I need to replace them or upgrade...

Anyone ever install the Hella SuperTone Horn Kit, 118 db on their MB?

Did you like it? Other recommendations?

Thanks

It all boils down to how you want your car to sound like. I installed Bosch Europa FSA2 Supertone horns on my cars. These horns give the car an old MB sound to them.

This is a good site with audio clips

Hella Supertone horns are great from what I've heard and for their size you can pretty much squeeze them in tough spots on your car.

Thanks for your response. Your 300D looks GORGEOUS! They need to start re-creating that chassis/body parts, etc.. like GM Performance Parts makes replacement bodies and panels for the Camaros...

Thanks!

YouTube.com has a lot of clips with cars equipped with the Hella Supertone horns.

Just for comparison, the Hellas are 300Hz (low) and 500Hz (high) with 118dB. They are available on various online retailers.

On the other hand, the Bosch Europas I have are 300Hz (low) and 375Hz (high) with 115dB but not as readily available as the Hellas.

If you want to retain the trumpet sound of your W210 (510Hz high, 400Hz low) then you can try Stebel or FIAMM. The original horns are $60 apiece, for that same price you can get cheaper aftermarket items.

Anyone know if those Hella SuperTone horns will fit in the OEM locations on the w210?

I got a set of OE Hellas out of a trashed CLK at the yard for $3. Sound great, easy to install, cheap.
