engine slightly rougher

82 300D turbo.

The other day was a hot day and I drove a little more aggressively than usual. On the way back:
I don't know if I am imagining but car sounds just slightly different than before. Slightly less smooth maybe a little more rough.

Also I checked the transmission fluid and the fluid comes up between the lines but only on the left side (vertically). On the other side of the stick the fluid does not reach the 2 lines.

You may have dislodged some carbon in the engine. Go take it for a long hard highway drives with some hard 4th gear climbs/acceleration. That should clean it out real good. If I drive mine slow for a week then roar onto the highway I usually leave behind quite a smoke trail!

Transmission fluid should be checked with car having been driven for 5-10 miles, parked on flat ground, and checked with the engine running. It should be between the two detents on the stick.
