How can I check it? The high beams work even when the signals don't. Luckily I pulled a combo switch off an old beater but I don't want to waste the effort unless I know it will help.

I had similar prob this AM, but my Temp, fuel gages don't read. Brake wear sensor lite has been blinking at me, thinking it popped a fuse (new brakes, broke all the wear sensor leads).

There is a relay on the later 123s (with the small hazard switch) which is located under the console, fwd and too the left of the shifter. Had to replace that on my 85 240D to make my turn singles work.

Sounds like you need to check the grounds behind the cluster.

Fuse 12 corroded. Wiggled it in holder, the world is fine again.

Like I stated in my first post. Pull the rubber cover off, and give it a visual look to see if anything is obvious. You might have to pull it off and really look at it on the bench. It sounds like a ground problem. The ground wire in the combo switch could be loose or the wire partially broken. The problem is somewhere in the swtich. Since you've replace the hazard switch and relay, and the bulbs work with the hazards. Intermittent electrical problems are usually bad grounds or connections.

That sounds like some solid advice. Many thanks my friend.
