IMHO, no. You will still come out covered in oil and grease. I think it's natural for an MB OM617, and perhaps diesels in general.

heh, and it won't be YOU getting dirty on the car...

his hoses have SOAKED everything in the engine compartment. I'm thinking a gentle bath would be prudent before taking the car into a neighbor's garage to work!
granted, we will still get covered in oil and dirt, but it'll be simpler to find and loosen the bolts etc.
