The Day of Depression is upon us (winter diesel)

So it happens every year. The day we go to fill up and the price jumps ten to fifteen cents. If it doesn't foam up on us when we pump it we find out why leaving the gas station and accelerating into traffic, Winter diesel. The same expletive immediately goes through our heads upon the realization. For it means reduced mileage at more cost. It also castrates the power of our manly diesel machines by about 10% . So we are relegated to live in a funk.... At least until spring when we get summer diesel back.

Yeah, I always hated that. I always tried to forget about it though, that way I was pleasently suprised in Spring, when my car suddenly got a bit of it's balls back.

I knew there had to be a "good" reason for diesel jumping $.10 a gallon overnight.

Yes, because it's cut with a cheaper fuel.

I've noticed no difference in power or consumption....on the bright side, I now work from an office 4.5 miles from my house instead of 47 miles. That saves some fuel! I literally switched locations the week diesel went up 15cents. Wshew!

Cool winter fuel

I've learned more on this forum than in the 10 years I spent getting a 4 & 1/2 year degree.

Yea, the claim that Winter Diesel is more expensive to make is BS. And I know that the amount of home heating oil used will will be increasing as it get's colder, so they have to raise the price. Who knew it would turn cold? But, RUL just went from $2.65 to $2.89! ULSD is $2.99. I think it is no coincidence that all fuel prices are starting move higher along with the Dow and finally some other positive economic reports. And, recently somebody, somewhere said "that the recession is over"
I'm moving to somewhere.

Last winter I noticed that I lost nearly 100 miles per tank. Going to have to wait and see how this year turns out.
