Where Does The Algae Go?

When I first bought this car the black slime plugged the primary filter in less than 1,200 miles.
I drained off all but about ten gallons of fuel and added some Power Service Bio Kleen and changed both filters. It's been about 150 miles and my new primary filter has already turned brown.
Until that bad fuel is gone or all the algae is killed, how much of the algae killed by the Bio Kleen is going to end up in my primary filter. I thought it would be killed/disolved and not much would get to the primary filter.

biobor and bioclean both kill, but do not dissolve the bodies...
startron (starton?) tank cleaner dissolves all traces of the infection.

Thanks John,
I drained the tank and removed the tank screen, it was clean, no slime anywhere. Changed the primary filter and put in 5 gals. of clean diesel. Drove about 10 miles and already have a little slime in the primary filter. Guess the lines are contaminated. I will be near a West Marine tomorrow and will get some Startron.
The exercise was not a total loss. I was getting a lot of air bubbles, (looked like the carbonation in beer) in the line from the lift pump to the secondary filter. The hose clamp at the tank was loose. Re-checked all the clamps everywhere. No more air bubbles.
Now if I can straighten out my vacuum problems I will be getting somewhere!

Where is Mount Holly? I lived in Charlotte for 8 years in 80's

Question: does the Startron tank clean both kill and dissolve, or do I need to do BioBor first, then Startron?

Thanks,

Kurt

That which grows in a tank doesn't require sunlight. Algae needs sunlight to grow. What is in your tank is either fungus or bacteria. That's the biology lesson for the day.

Startron is the name of the company. They make a bunch of products. One of them is a combination boicide and enzyme. The biocide kills and the enzyme eats up the dead bodies.

But, you need to read the lable to be sure what you are getting or trust the person at the Counter to sell you the correct produce.

Most likely Startron has a website with their products.

I'm not sure what brand I have used, but the biocide I have used kills and makes it small enough to be sucked through the filters and burned.

It is correctly called bacteria I believe....but I'm not one to get my panties in a twist over calling it algae!

had the slime problem in my 190. Even when the tank filter has been removed not all diesel will drain out as there is the thread holding the filter is sticking a bit into the tank. When you stick your finger into the tank you can still feal diesel. Can only recommend to remove the tank and clean it properly as otherwise you will have clogged up filters for some time.
Cheers

Starbrite's Startron

(I have no connection to this fine company or their excellent products)
Startron in the Tank is ALL you need for your FUNGUS infestation cure!
as has been stated,
Kills the FUNGUS and then emzyme-atically reduces the "Corpus Delecti"
to a stage that passes through the filters and is burned with the Diesel fuel.
