Excessive turbo whistle with a 3" exhaust?
I recently added a turbo and manifold from a 99 E300 to a 96E300. The turbo's donor vehicle only had about 125kmi. and the turbo was nice and smooth with no bearing play. I installed a pressure actuator for the waste gate to make it simple. I also fabricated a 3" stainless exhaust off the flange, with mandrel bends, and a Magnaflow XL at the end. The flow seems great. I have not driven the car yet because I'm doing alot of work to it, including interior, body/paint, mechanical.
My question is; With the 3" should I expect a great deal of turbo whistle? Because I'm getting it! At above 2500rpm it starts, or on forced throttle when I rev the motor out. I have a boost gauge in cabin, which shows boost building.
