Oldest Original Glow Plugs

I read a post from a guy with a 1983 300D, 215,000 miles, with all original glow plugs. 27 years and all those miles....that's pretty impressive.

Any others with that kind of glow plug longevity?

I replaced all five in the 92 about five years ago with 175,000 miles on it. Last year, in my first year of ownership of the 91, I replaced four of the five with only 80,000 miles on it. I guess the previous owner made lots of short trips.

Just replaced mine today

After 200,000 miles of driving but that was only in ~ 5 years of driving. 4 were completely shot and I was stumbling on start so I figured it must be time.

Now I've got a squeal issue

Need to update my sig but I'm at 306,000 miles as of tonight.

Want to put a tank in the trunk for WVO/SVO in the E300 Need to find a place to store my OIL!
Still procrastinating about the biodiesel/WVO
Made some biodiesel but so afraid to pour it all in - I've added some and think I'll supplement my fuel to see how I make out

Made some biodiesel but the process scares me - methanol fumes are not your friend! Need to do this outside.

We bought my brother's 300D with 221k on it 2 years ago, it had all original plugs....they sorta worked. Replacing them made a HUGE difference in starting. And its why we got the car so cheap in the first place.
