Yeah, I tried the slime patch a few different ways and it improved things but I couldn't get it to really be overnight-tight. Just for fun I tried the condom approach. Interesting but...nahhh.

This is documented in the manual. It states the locks should work for 5 cycles.

Mine is good for a week when everything is tight. At the moment I have a slow leak someplace so it sometimes won't unlock after sitting overnight. One of these days I need to dive in and find the leak.

Same here, I'm guessing the leak is in the climate control system.

The central locking has been restored except the trunk actuator. Has new master switch on driver door and 3 new actuators on the rest. Also has new fuel filler lid actuator.

I'm experimenting right now, as a temporary solution, to place a check valve on the climate control line (green/yellow) and see if that helps. I know removing it completely will isolate the problem if the leak is indeed, in the climate control system, but I don't know if the AC vents will blow air when the climate control system is completely disconnected from the vacuum lines.

hmmm, you may be right BUT I have owned my 240D for 10 years and it has always worked the way I described (ie. I have about 15-20 seconds to lock the doors with the key after shutting off the engine). Have NEVER had problems shutting down the engine (why should I, since I have at least 15-20 seconds of vacuum AFTER shutting it down).
Anyway, sounds like my vacuum system could work better, so as I said it's on my list of things to address (just after "buy a mighty vac") after I retire. Until then, "don't sweat the small stuff"...

Just wanted to update this thread. Before we went on a weeklong vacation I placed a check valve "the wrong way" on the vacuum line to the climate control system in hopes this isolates the leak to its designated system, and that it leaves the rest of the system intact to hold vacuum for a long time. I've been running it this way 'til today.

When we came back after a week, the door locks unlocked quickly, and locked quickly. So in short it held vacuum for a week.

This confirms I've isolated the leak to the climate control system, and that I could lock and unlock the doors per factory spec - 5 total cycles. I'm happy!

I've placed an order for what I think is the leaking climate control vacuum pod (outside air/main air flap actuator) along with other parts.
