Craiglist liar

http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/2028144126.html

This car went for sale last Friday for $900 on Craigslist, posted as 149k on odo but it had been broken for a while so probably 160k. I talked to the guy. Sold Friday or Saturday early am to a guy who immediately listed it for $2k with 140k miles and needing transmission work. Today he reposts it at $4500 with transmission being fixed and only 75k miles. Same pictures in all the ads. 2k ad claimed he had owned it for a month and not less than 24 hrs. Current ad claims he's owned it for over a year. Watch out for the liars.

Behavours like this should suprise few. The society in general has more than a few rotten apples out there. It probably has always been so but suspect the general condition is getting worse.

The expression buyer beware rings far truer than ever. Too bad but that is the way it is with no paranoia on my part.

better yet- post an ad there with your analysis.

CL is really getting abused. When I search on "mercedes" in my local CL, I constantly pull up ads about unrelated items (cellphones, tvs) with all kinds of catch wording including Mercedes so that anytime anyone searches for just about anything you get their ad. That's going to bring the search feature on CL to its knees if its done enough.

37 MPG ... going downhill with a strong wind in your back maybe. Give me a break. Wouldn't 25 to 26 be more like it. You'd have a hard time getting that mileage out of a 240D manual. These outrageous mileage claims really bug me.

Be happy to.

I think it takes about (5) hits from different users to zap it.

Correct - AND ask the other users to FLAG IT as spam!

More and more older Mercedes with in-accurate miles, being sold with low miles, and actually have 200,000, 300,000 or more, ... make these cars look bad IMO as they're worn out and people think they have few miles on them.

Flagged. When I do Mercedes searches, I usually spend more than half my time flagging Lexus & other non-Mercedes cars, wheels that don't fit, spam, etc.

I do this too, but sometimes I think I'm wasting time - unless others care as I do.

Flag that sucker in the LINK above as SPAM for kerry!

Thats ok there is a #14 head on ebay for $875 right now. Talk about theft.

Junkman 10-27-2010 02:53 PM

Perhaps all should contact & insult the seller giving him a link to this thread.

kerry 10-27-2010 03:05 PM

I would prefer not.

diametricalbenz 10-27-2010 03:06 PM

Ditto!

Brian and Hatterasguy don't need the AGGRAVATION.

Unless someone is an MB head, and needs some rehabilitation.
