Theres a good thread about removing all the extra garbage on the left fenderwell when U remove the egr--and a vacuum like rerouting diagram.
Yea, my EGR and ARV and ALL associtated equipment is gone, but I was curious what kind of switch is in the IP.

EDIT: My ARV is not gone, just disabled.

The dial with numbers on it for adjusting the idle is on my 1987 300TD. The sensor with big wire plug is right next to the IP shutoff valve. It has a locking mechanism where you push a tab with your thumb and then the plug can come off. Is that what you are talking about?

Did anyone ever find the dial on a 1985 ? It is pretty cool.

right,

you have the ELR or EDS. That computer is bit more advanced.

This actuator is on the back of the injection pump and attaches to a leaf spring in the governor body for electronic idle control. The sensor in question is in a much different spot, if you read the first post.

It does have to do with California. All 1984 Cali version has California Emissions, which includes having a Rack Position Sensor, ARV and egr computer.

The 1984 Federal versions do not have any of that stuff.

Do 84 Cali's got the air cleaner down behind the PS headlight like the 85 unit?

Is it the case that all 85 models have these features. I was under the impression that all 85's did. My 85TD has them and I'm pretty sure it's not a CA version.

No. It's the same placement as the earlier years, on top of the dreaded air cleaner bracket.

'85 Federal and CA versions have an identical emissions setup to the '84 CA, with the '85 CA having an additional Trap Ox to the exhaust.
