Rattle 82 300td

Got a rattle I cant figure out. I start the car it is an automatic and get a tinny sounding rattle for just about 30 seconds. If I give it a little touch to the accelerator or put it in gear i stops. I suspect something with the tranny, but dont know! It happens every morning any thoughts.

Shifter bushings- if your PRND21 (Gear selector) feels sloppy, loose I'd lay odds its the bushings. Mine were the same way and I had them replaced and now it's great

Question

Thanks Aqua, But this is a bigger soung than than the bushing's. This sounds more like a tinnt tamborine coming from the back of the motor and the front of the tranny.

Maybe check your flex plate. remove the black plastic cover under the fly wheel area under the engine. rotate the engine to line up the bolts that bolt it to the convertor. there are 3 sets of 2 bolts. look to see if there are stress cracks in the plate.

I'd also check your exhaust mounts. There is a bracket on the trans that hold the exhaust, something could be loose.
