how to separate MC from brake fluid reservoir?

I'm in the process of doing a MC replacement on an 85 300 TDT Wagon.

I'm having trouble getting the brake fluid reservoir off the old cylinder, however by the looks of the new MC there are no threads or anything and looks like you should be able to just pop it out. It seems like the rubber is whats holding it in, is that right?

I'm afraid to force something and crack it, so wondered if there were any tips or pointers on making a smooth transition.
Thanks

Take a normal wrench (13mm, 14mm size or so) put it under the reservoir and against the MC. Use it as a pry lever to lift up, hold the reservoir straight as you do this. It will pop out the front nipple. Do the same for the rear, or, just grab the thing and pull up while moving it side to side very slightly and it will come off.

you have removed the two 13mm nuts right?
is there a lot of rust on the booster?
if the nuts are out, and you are just trying to pry the Mc off, just grab it and wriggle it out.

Perfect. I popped it out with a wrench. Thank you. I have the MC removed already.
I just wanted to clean out the reservoir well before installing it on the new one and bench bleeding it before mounting it again. I had fluid leaking into the booster. Not good.

Im crossing my fingers that I did a thorough enough cleaning job, then drying, in order to keep things functional.

Luckily it doesn't look like it got into the vacuum system.

Where is the air being sucked out of in the brake booster? I see it comes in via the booster vacuum line, but where does it go from there?

Air does not enter the booster via the vacuum line. It's the other way around; the air departs the booster via the vacuum line.

He was talking about getting the reservoir off of the MC itself.

Be sure to clean the reservoir throughly before putting it on the new ms. Don't want any gook getting into the new parts.

Does anyone know if you can take apart the two test buttons?

They seem a little sticky and I dont think they ever did work, so I thought would look into it, but dont want to mess around too much.

What my mechanic did when we installed a rebuilt MC on my car was to get low quality DOT 4 fluid I had laying around and washed the reservoir inside out with it, to get the dirty stuff out. It's quite tricky since the reservoir has a unique design inside in that you have ti tilt it a certain way to get the fluid out from one portion of the container.

When I started the car the BRAKE light was on. Turns out we just had to reset the buttons once plugged in. Just a heads up in case it happens to you too.

I got my apart by rocking back and forth while pulling up.

I cleaned the reservoir out with brake cleaner and then put brake fluid in to slosh around and pick up any more gunk while draining it out.

There was some nasty gunk on the bottom of mine.
