OM603 valve stem seal questions

I'm getting ready (as advised by Sixto) to replace the valve seals in the #20 head that I bought from that gentleman, before I install it in my '87 300D (W124, OM603, #14 head). In preparation, I've been reading the FSM and searching out various "valve seal" threads and DIY links in this forum.

Some time ago I picked up a new, sealed in a plastic bag, valve stem seal kit from a well-known Internet parts supplier located in a neighboring state. The kit has a paper sticker with "Elring of North America," "Elring 914.835" and both old (603 050 02 67) and new (103 050 00 58) Mercedes part numbers. By the labels, these would appear to be the correct parts.

The smaller green seal has "Elring" cast into the rubber as well as "47/4602" and there is a metal jacket outside the green rubber.

The brown seal appears to be all rubber except for the wire ring and has only an "E" and the number "82" cast into the rubber. The hole in the brown seal is smaller than the hole in the green seal.

The two plastic guard sleeves are the same size and fit the green seal but not the brown one. I've never seen a set of valve seals before and haven't taken the #20 head apart to see what is in it so I have no idea what I'm looking at.

Do I have the right seals? Why is there no plastic guard sleeve for the brown seals?

Jeremy
