124 front-suspension upgrade finished, wish I had the klann spring compressor!!!
Yes, did it with side-clamp type compressors, added at least an hour to the job plus the safety issues, ... if only I had the correct tool nearby!
So, upgrading to the 4-puck brakes means new-style control arms, and either modifying or updating the heat shield, new wear sensor connection (dual).
In all, the job was: New strut mounts, Bilstein comforts, lower control arms (includes bushings and ball-joints), 4-puck calipers/rotors/pads, heat shields, tie-rod ends, engine mounts and block-heater cord while I was under there, ... and then a nice alignment. A PITA job, and I need to pull one spring again as it is missing about 1" of its end, ... but well worth it for the nice ride and quiet, and the tighter handling.
I bought the later/larger brakes for the rear also, not realizing that the wagon already has the larger brakes, ... that was easy (anyone need some calipers and used rotors?).
