97 E300D, ETS and ABS lights are on plus my Cruise does not work
This car still drives great without any operating problems. I have read of people who had this problem and their car was in "limp mode" However mine is not doing that. Could someone please respond with some things that I could check.
BTW when I hook a scanner to it no codes came up at all! Very confusing. This is my wife's car and she now has to drive my truck which she does not like to do in a dress. Thanks in advance. |

You may wish to check the K40 module, which is the electrical descendant of our W124 friend, the Over-voltage Protection relay. K40 failure might cause the symptoms you are seeing. Units that are not getting power cannot generate a code for the scanner to find.
BTW, I would not wish to drive your truck wearing a dress either. Jeremy

Jeremy, is there a way to test the K40 module?

You can pry it apart and look at the printed circut board with a magnifying glass. You are looking for hairline cracks in the PCB that open and close during expansion and contraction.
This might also be a speed sensor, but, the lack of a code does make it seem more like the K40 realy.
