W124 diesel engine mounts pop quiz.

How many engine mounts for the diesel W124 Mk1 do you think Mercedes UK have sold in the past year?

scroll down....

33, yes, at least one person bought ONE, not the pair.

£70 each OEM from MB UK
£25 each Pattern from GSF UK

Problem is, its not the one its leaning on that fails.
People dont realize, fuel leak = left engine mount replacement in about 1 month.
On my old 617, I never replaced a right hand mount in 800k miles, replaced 3 left ones.
I have replaced the left one on my 124, destroyed by PO with fuel leak. Right one is still within spec for support.
Normally mounts are cheaper in pairs. Maybe some one got 3 at once.

I just replaced both on my TD, the right one had failed. Without oil fuel leaks, the right side has all of the forward-driving torque addiing weight to it, plus the additional heat load of the exhaust & turbo. The later cars have an air-duct to cool the right mount.

The left side was fine.
