OM617.950 Head
Got the head off the donor car today (finally!) to put on my 79 300SD. Would love the group's take on the condition of what I have to work with here and suggestions for next steps. Thanks!

Next step; clean it all & have a close look when there is no carbon & other gunk hiding anything. Looks like combustion was reasonable.

One of the coolant ports was filled solid and the one next to it was 3/4 plugged. Aye carumba! What's a good cleaning method? I was going to say soak it in biodiesel for a few days but I might get shot for that!

The head off the donor is in the shop (Superior Turbo) and should be back in a week or so. What do you make of the fantastic amount of carbon on 1CYL and being able to still see writing on the top of the pistons? Rust on the cam lobe and all the moisture under the valve cover.
