BRRRRR!!!

Gawd, here I thought I'd left the cold weather behind in NC 3 weeks ago. Last two days here in SA it hasn't got above 25 F during the day, down to around 15 F at night. Tomorrow is supposed to be more of the same, with a chance of snow early on. No relief until sometime during the weekend. That plus a windchill yesterday of zero to minus 5.

When I saw the weather forecast Tuesday afternoon, I was down to 1/4 tank on the Jeep. I went by Wally World and picked up a quart bottle of PS White and dumped it in when I filled up the tank a little later. Glad I did - that Italian diesel growled and snarled like a bad-tempered grizzly for the first few seconds after startup the last two mornings, being disturbed from it's slumber at 6 AM and 15 F outside, immediately going to 1000 RPM high idle and the aux coolant heater kicking in. I knew that engine was bloody cold when I saw the glow plug light for those Bosch ceramics stay on for close to 5 seconds - normally you have to be looking at the light when you turn the key to even see it blip on and off.

Glad I took the time when I was in NC to replace that original weak-kneed thermostat, and more so that I installed that leather heated drivers seat out of an '02 Liberty a year or so ago.
