loosing brake fluid

Yes Ive been loosing brake fluid lately on the 85 300cd and theres no visable bad lines or visable wet leaks but it does look slightly moist around the rubber washers between the plastic reservoir and the master cylinder plunger barrel.

Where does it usually tend to have leaks?

pull the master cylinder away from the booster, look in the booster. if it's wet, change the o-ring on the back of the MC or replace the MC.

it sure can. it'll also get fluid inside the VP and destroy lots of things. if you find a full booster, ya definitely need to clean it out, if not replace it.

X2. what was said above.

I had the same problem about 4 + yrs back. had to add brake fluid every once in a while, and no visable leaks.

Then one afternoon I came home and was turning around in the drive way, and the brake peddle went to the floor .
I pulled the MC, and noticed the Booster full of fluid, almost to the top of the center hole.

I replaced both items, called Phill and had it the next day. Pricy, but not if it comes to the brakes.

If fluid is leaking into the booster, the M/C needs replacing. The "O" ring is for the vacuum seal.

Yes!
The seal that would need to be changed is inside of the Master Cylinder; not on the outside.
#2 is the O-ring.
Maybe the seal/s #6 and the #9-11 parts also.
