I have a bunch of ÜRO (bought before I knew better) on My Car and not one of them is marked where they were Made.
I had bought a complete front end Kit, all ÜRO and none marked.

Meistersatz the Valve Stem Seals I installed; they are supposed to be OK.
Meistarsatz also makes Vacuum Pump Kits.

Ironically, on my current 240D, the donuts (standard un-reinforced type) I got from the Mercedes dealer were cheaper (sometimes alot cheaper) than all the aftermarket ones I priced. I'll take a look later to see how they're aging after four years.

Meistersatz is most definitely not ok... no matter what they make (or more accurately, what they rebox).

The problem is many of these companies don't actually MAKE their parts. They just buy & re-box them.
So you might get perfect;y good OEM on certain parts and junk on the others. Even the same part may be OEM, then when you go for another, a couple years later (or even a few minutes later), it's now 'Made in China'!
Like the secondary fuel-filter I got for my 240D a few years ago. I needed one late one night and found a Purolator at Pep-Boys for about $13. Kind of pricey compared to what it costs at my local indie MB parts-place. But at least inside the box was a German MANN filter.
So then I had to go next door to Advance Auto Parts for something else and they stocked the same Purolator part # for about $8. But when I opened the box, I found a plain white no-name filter, with only 'Made in China' printed on it. Needless to say, I kept the $13 one!

Awhile back, I got a new aftermarket hood star from my local indie MB parts-place for a friend's '72 W115 220. (No country of origin on the bag)
But after a few years the chrome blistered and peeled, then the pot-metal crumbled and snapped off.
So when I needed a new star for my '82 W123 240D, I got one for $34 from my local Mercedes dealer.
(Made in Turkey by the way!)
Next time I stopped at my indie MB parts-place for something, there was that exact same box and 'Made in Turkey' hood star, waiting on the counter for another customer - for about $10 less than I paid!
Oh well....

Happy Motoring, Mark

No brand

W126 Front left master window switch.

Said made in Africa on the side.
Failed after three days.
While removing, all of the plastic crumbled to dust, the mess required a vacuum cleaner.

New or used? If new, what was the source of the no-brand switch?

Purolator has 2 levels of filter quality, from what I recall the basic filter is in a mostly white box while the premium is in a gray ish striped box.

The cheapest internet vendor he could find.
I think he said $9.00 for the new window switch.

Don't remember the boxes being any different, but it's been a few years.

Expansion valve

Expansion Valve for 84 300D:
* Ordered Egelhof "(OEM Supplier)" expansion valve
* Came in a box with "rein automotive" on it. Nothing about Egelhof on the box.
* The parts sticker attached on the valve says Egelhof, in very, very, very small print.
* The Eglehof logo is etched on the side of the valve.
* Made in China, according to the sticker on the side of the box.

"Oh well, indeed".......if you (generic you) attempted to even get through 3 hours of one day w/o what is Made in China, well......you wouldn't. It's a worldwide/global goods marketplace, and something that is not worth fighting.

The fact of the matter is, that it would be hard to leave your homes clothed, w/o goods Made in Asian countries.

Them be the facts folks.

These days, I'm usually happy if I can find something that ISN'T made in China!

I just hope, regardless of where it's made, the 240D star I got from Mercedes doesn't peel and crumble after a few years, like that aftermarket one I got for my friend.
I would've gotten one from Mercedes for his '72 220, but they claimed that star is no longer availible separately. Only with the dummy radiator-cap - for more than double what I paid Mercedes for the W123 version.

I wound up giving my friend an extra OE star I'd scavenged from a salvage-yard W114. It'll probably outlast his car, if some dirtbag doesn't rip it off. Which is what happened to his original.

Happy Motoring, Mark
