replacing seat motor - how to determine 'center'?
After pulling my new acquisition's driver's seat ('85 300sd), I found that both seatback motors had their wiring cut by broken seat springs, and the front elevation motor had some of it's feedback wires ripped up. Unfortunatly, I need to replace that motor, because the wiring ripped right out of the potentiometer.
Question is, how do I match the replacement motor's position with the seat's position? I'd hate to put the motor in with the seat in the full 'up' position, while the motor is in full 'down' travel. Hitting 'down' like that would probably shred the new motor's pot...... TIA, Matt |

I had mine out and off the tracks to rebuild the seats. Removed the cable that moves the assy back and forth but gave no caution to position of anything. it all worked fine after reassembly.
