anybody ever installed SLS into an SD?

I've got a parts car TD, and a sagging trunk full of tools...

Should be straightforward, some V8s had it.

Can you put the later tandem power steering / sls pump from a 603 on? That would greatly simpliify things IMO.

Are you willing to swap a head for it? The 300SD head wouldn't have the pump fittings.

I would think it would be easier to get the SLS suspension from a 560SEL and put it back there, then connect it to the SLS stuff on the motor.

The cheaper/easier option would just be electric adjustable air shocks.

Hence my question about the 603 SLS pump.

If I could get the parts cheap enough I'd love to have the full hydropneumatic suspension on my car.

Doesn't look like fun to me:

I agree. Air suspension would be very straight forward. Put bags in the rear. Air compressor/accumulator in the location of your choice, lines, switches and a small tank is all you need. I have done a lot with conversions (not on MB) and find it very effective.

The 560 also had the pump run off the head. But the 603 and 103 use the power steering pump.

US 560s never got the full hydropneumatic setup

Hmmm, his 560 appears to have a tandem pump... at least the pump has a twin belt on it, I do not see any pump in the head. I do see what looks like a Rear A/C setup in there... cool.
I am willing to swap heads to get the SLS in there.
I don't know if the TD rams will swap into the SD.
I gotta pull it out anyway. I've got an 80TD and a 95TE for suspension parts...
when I get my SD parts car tore down that far, I'll see if the rams from my TD fit or not.

Hi, I would love to put air shocks on the rear of my 1984 300SD, does anyone know of any that will work? I have done some searching on the net, and made a few phone calls to manufacturers and the answer is No, no and no. Have any of you done this? I have the stock diesel tank 21 gal. and a 21 gal aluminum WVO tank and I carry around 30 pounds of tool in the trunk. If I put anyone in the back seat I have to be careful about driveways. Your help as usual is always appreciated.
