shifter only shows 4 gears...
he must be counting R as the 5th!
heater line is disconnected from the motor above the oil filter...
incorrect battery, fire waiting to happen with the positive cable resting on the firewall...

it's worth about 300 as scrap metal. could be worth more if parts are in good shape. cast iron 4 speed likely. possibly the newer aluminum one. if the rust is not too bad, some parts could be used from it for a swap into a better car.

It does not take too many reports of the seller counting reverse as a gear to make people look carefully.....
and everyone IS on the lookout for real 5 speeds...

5 speeds aren't all that common here as I understand it. My Euro 300D has one, and I expect that Mercedes sold more 5 speeds in Europe than they did here. It could just have the wrong shifter handle on it, though. After we got our 300D, my dad thought it was a 4 speed for a while until he found 5th one day (Shifter handle doesn't have the shift pattern marked on it).

EDIT: I just looked at the pictures. In my opinion, it is worth taking a look at just for all the manual goodies on it. Manual climate control, windows, transmission.

Doesn't look bad to me. Have to check the engine, and get them well under $1k, so there would be money left for a heater core.

If you are close to the seller, you might go look at it and see how bad the rust is and whether it is indeed a 5 speed.

It actually lists a 4 speed in the full description. Only the head/tag line says a 5 speed.
